On December 7th, Toronto Police Service apprehended a non-community member at the Student Centre. No injuries were reported. The individual had been previously issued trespass notice and is not permitted on York’s campuses. The circumstances at the Student Centre yesterday met a threshold for safety risk and this is why Toronto Police intervention was required.
Please be assured that trespass orders are not issued at any time on the basis of income status, race or other identities. York Security only intervenes in response to calls for service and safety incidents. We support inclusive, open and safe campuses for the public. Members of the general public are welcomed and encouraged to visit and enjoy our campuses provided that they do not pose a threat to the safety of any members of the York community.
