York University continuously strives to foster a culture of safety on its campuses. A cornerstone of our efforts has been a commitment to transparent and effective communication with respect to safety-related incidents that occur on campus.

Earlier today, we were notified that an individual was found in the Student Centre without vital signs. York Community Safety reported this to Toronto Ambulance and Toronto Police Service immediately, and both attended the scene.

We have received confirmation that the individual is deceased. At this time, we are able to confirm that the individual is not a York student and there is no risk to public safety.
