Safety Communication

The University has a longstanding tradition of sharing important security information with the York community to allow individuals and groups to exercise appropriate precautions to protect personal safety and property.  It also fosters the understanding that safety is a shared responsibility amongst everyone at York University.

The key communications channels are included below for your reference.  Please take a moment to become familiar with them.

Security Bulletins

Security Bulletins are emailed to all York U students, faculty and staff to notify them of a serious incident representing an ongoing risk.

The Weekly Security Incident Log (WSIL) provides online information about incidents occurring on campus.

York U Safety App

Access to all of the University's safety resources is available on the York U Safety app.  Push Notifications and the safety alert feature allow the university to communicate campus emergencies directly and immediately with users.  Download the app today for Apple, Android and Blackberry.

Emergency LCD Displays

There are over 70 screens installed throughout the Keele and Glendon campuses, which will display instructions on what to do along with an accompanying audio message, in the case of an emergency.

Exterior and Interior Safety Phones

Connect with York Security or goSAFE directly using one of the many easily visible safety phones on campus.  Interior safety phones are typically located in elevator lobbies, hallways, residence lobbies and laundry rooms, building entrances, and large lecture halls.  Exterior emergency blue light phones are located across campus and identified with a blue light which flashes when activated.
